What happened on our Family Fun Day?

Disabled children and young people's Family Fun Day!



On Saturday 6th March, the Phoenix Centre hosted a free event which invited all disabled children and young people and their families to a Fun Day!

Sutton Youth Service opened up the The Youth Zone and ran a Spring Art competition with over 25 young people taking part, all with varying abilities and ages.

A first prize of £10 WHSmith voucher was won by Kirsty U,and 2 second prizes of £5 vouchers also from WHSmith's won by Aaron and Jack D.

We also ran DJ workshops hosted by Youth FM, and the Sensory room was opened up for families to come and sample the benefits available for private hire if needed.

The event was to primarily promote disabled services available for children and young people in Sutton, with lots of free activities available to take part in including, trampolining, soft play and bouncey area, wheel chair basketball, football, dance classes, Sutton Bikes, Story times, Massage Therapy and Drums workshops to name a few.

Over 100 young people passed through the Youth Zone with their families, and the staff team did an excellent job of promoting the services the Youth Service provide for young people including:

• Monday Club - young people with Complex Special Needs from the age of 12 up to 25, 6.30-8.30, every Monday during term time. For more information please ring 020 8770 6044
• Thursday Club at the Quad Youth Centre, for young people aged 11-25, with autism, low-moderate learning difficulties and/or ADHD, from 6.15-8.15pm every Thursday. For more information ring 020 8770 6044
• Saturday Integrated Project, which runs every other Saturday from the Quad Youth

The day was a great success. The families that attended had a lot of fun giving lots of positive feedback!
