Half Term Report by Emma and Emily
February Half Term
By Emma and Emily
This Half Term there were Youth Clubs running throughout the week. On Monday the club was at the Phoenix Centre from 12 til 4 and there were loads of activities like making your own lunch, a pool tournament, board games and a guest speaker. With the guest speaker some young people recorded a poem about respect for other people and themselves. The best part of the day for me was the guest speaker because they made me realise about hanging around with the wrong people and the way some people see teenagers and young people.
On Tuesday the session was at The Quad from 12 til 4 and some of the activities were painting plant pots and planting things, pool, games in the hall, cooking pancakes and making spaghetti bolognaise for lunch. The best part of the day for most people was the cooking because even if it went wrong it was still fun.
On Wednesday the Youth Service was at Sutton Youth Centre from 6.30pm til 9pm and some of the activities were playing pool, playing table tennis, playing basketball and cooking Chinese food. Many people joined in the cooking as they had the choice of what they wanted to put in their meal and how much they wanted, the also had the chance to cook for other people to try it and the chance to learn about the Chinese Culture.
On Thursday we did a day of talking about what we thought about the activities through the week and how the Half Term service could be improved for young people and any ideas we had about advertising it, and any ideas we had for any activities and trips we wanted to do next half term.
On Friday there is a trip to Hindleap Warren for people who came to the activities in the centres throughout the week. Some of the activities we are going to be doing on the trip will be orienteering, high ropes, climbing and team work.. The trip times are 8am til 6pm. Even though it is an early start it is going to be a good day!
